Informational support
Advocacy support
Education
Positioning suggestions
Comfort measures
Partner support
Referral to appropriate professionals

Doulas do not:

Diagnose medical conditions
Prescribe medication
Interpret diagnostic tests
Perform medical procedures
Replace healthcare providers
Make clinical decisions for clients

Key Principle

Knowledge should make you a better doula—not turn you into a provider you are not trained or licensed to be.
